A selection of GCSE and A-Level Art & Design work produced by students will take place in Ss Peter and Paul Church from 4th November, during daylight hours. A private viewing will take place on 7th November from 3.30pm - 5.00pm.
The work of our students demonstrates the use of the formal elements, including line, tone, colour, shape, pattern, texture, form and structure. In developing their skills students experiment with a wide range of media and methods, learning how to transform materials in order to reflect the different qualities of their observed forms and images. Throughout their studies, our students use a range of techniques including 3D modelling or sculpture, painting, printmaking, flat colour and pattern design, textiles and photography - and most obviously plenty of drawing. Observational drawing and photography forms the starting point and basis for their visual enquiries. Students will also research relevant artists and photographers and make connections with their own work and ideas.
Under the guidance of their teachers, our students take an idea that stems from something that they have produced in the first few weeks and develop this into an enquiry in their sketchbooks that leads towards a final piece. These final pieces show links to the work of the artists or photographers that our students have been inspired by.
We hope that you will enjoy this small selection of work and we look forward to displaying further work in the future.
